Design Strategist
As Director of Creative and Design at Digital Harbor Foundation, I led the brand identity and website development for the Rec-to-Tech program—an initiative turning recreation centers into community-focused STEM learning hubs.
The goal was to create a bold, innovative brand paired with a user-friendly WordPress site to support accessible, educational engagement.
Identity & Impact
As the Director of Creative and Design at Digital Harbor Foundation, I led the creative direction and design strategy for the Rec-to-Tech program—an initiative aimed at transforming recreation centers into community-driven STEM learning hubs.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, I developed a bold visual identity and redesigned the website to better serve key audiences including youth, educators, and funders. The refreshed brand and site made educational tools more accessible, engaging, and aligned with the program’s mission of fostering exploration and self-expression through technology.

In addition to the website, I helped create promotional materials, downloadable educational PDFs, and a cohesive visual system to ensure consistent brand recognition across all platforms. This holistic approach not only elevated the visibility of Rec-to-Tech but also supported its long-term growth by providing flexible, easy-to-use assets for both internal teams and external partners. The new design direction helped clearly communicate the program’s impact and vision to a broader, more engaged audience.

Discovery
During the discovery phase, I collaborated with key stakeholders to define goals, assess the previous website and current needs, and establish a clear vision for rebranding the successful Rec-to-Tech program. The objective was twofold: to celebrate the program’s impact and to build an educational toolkit and resource website. The platform offers tools, reports, and insights for communities interested in STEM—meeting youth where they are and empowering them with opportunities for exploration and self-expression.
Revamp
After assessing the needs of the project, I developed a fresh brand identity that aligned with the program’s mission and audience. This included designing a new logo, updated color palette, and cohesive visual elements to create a modern, engaging look and feel. The new assets provided a strong foundation for consistent branding across digital and print platforms, helping to elevate the program’s visibility and impact.
Development
Following the initial research and planning phase, I crafted a visual standards guide that played a key role in reshaping Rec-to-Tech’s image. This resource defines how design elements are applied across platforms, helping maintain a unified and professional appearance in all communications, both online and in print. The guide serves as a reference for staff and partners to present the brand clearly, effectively, and consistently.
Identity
For companies, organizations, and advocacy initiatives, having a brand manual is key to keeping a unified image. When managing multiple communication channels, this tool helps streamline everything from staff templates to campaign visuals. A well-crafted brand resource not only boosts efficiency but also ensures that every touchpoint reflects your mission and resonates consistently with your audience across platforms.
Execution
In the final phase, we applied the style guide to develop a user-friendly website and a full suite of branded materials. This included cohesive social media graphics, downloadable toolkits, event collateral, and digital assets tailored for web use. Each element was designed to maintain visual consistency, enhance user engagement, and support the program’s mission—ensuring a seamless brand experience across all platforms and touchpoints.
Impact
Developing a new identity, logo, and website for Rec-to-Tech significantly elevated the program’s visibility and accessibility. The refreshed brand helped clearly communicate its mission, attracting new partners, funders, and community members. The user-friendly website made resources easier to navigate, while cohesive visuals built trust and recognition. Overall, the redesign positioned Rec-to-Tech as a forward-thinking, community-driven initiative, better equipped to scale its impact and reach underserved youth through STEM.
